Re:Create Statement on Appointment of New Register of Copyrights Shira Perlmutter

WASHINGTON — Re:Create today issued the following statement on Shira Perlmutter being named the next Register of Copyrights and Director of the U.S. Copyright Office by Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden.

She brings with her a long record of experience on copyright and intellectual property issues that will help her recognize the need to be responsive to all members of the copyright system,” said Joshua Lamel, executive director of Re:Create. “With a new generation of creators and users in this digital age, there are even more diverse viewpoints today that deserve equal consideration so our copyright system works to the benefit of all Americans.
