Washington — The Computer & Communications Industry Association filed comments for the Copyright Office today on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act’s safe harbors. The safe harbors protect websites and other Internet services from copyright liability for infringement by users — provided they expeditiously respond to copyright holders’ notices to take down unauthorized content. In its filing, CCIA said these protections have led to more investment in digital companies and to the tech industry becoming a leading exporter. But CCIA warned that there is growing misuse of the notice and takedown system. For more please see this DisCo blog post by CCIA’s Matt Schruers today.
