SEEDTIME ON THE CUMBERLAND is the Appalshop’s annual summer festival celebrating Appalachian people, music, arts, and culture.
Seedtime began in 1987 as a way to promote the musical traditions and cultural heritage of central Appalachia by providing a venue right here in the mountains for these incredibly talented artists to display, perform, and share their work. Seedtime commonly features performances by old-time master musicians alongside barn-burning sets by cutting-edge bluegrass groups, incredible visual arts exhibits, and hands-on workshops that are fun for the whole family.
And Appalshop is proud to announce that on June 5th & 6th, 2015, we will host the 29th annual Seedtime on the Cumberland Festival here in downtown Whitesburg, Kentucky. This year’s event will once again be a jam-packed weekend, with a variety of musical performances, local food, arts & crafts vendors, literary readings, workshops, film screenings, jam sessions & kids’ activities, all happening over the course of the two-day festival!
