WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Re:Create Coalition released the following statement regarding the Department of Education’s proposed regulation to require an “open,” or no fee, license for all copyrighted materials created through agency grants.
“Today the Department of Education has taken a tremendous step forward for taxpayers, students and teachers across the nation. By assuring that they won’t have to pay for copyrighted materials produced with agency grant funds, schools will have access to more and affordable high-quality resources for students and teachers. We applaud the Department of Education for launching its #GoOpen campaign to encourage the expansion of knowledge, and we call on all federal agencies to join DoE and other trailblazing agencies in adopting parallel policies without delay,” said Tina Pelkey, spokeswoman for Re:Create.
