Re:Create Statement on Maria Pallante’s Departure from U.S. Copyright Office

WASHINGTON—The Re:Create Coalition released the following statement today in response to Maria Pallante’s departure as Register of Copyrights and new appointment as senior advisor for digital strategy at the Library of Congress:

“We thank Maria Pallante for her service at the Copyright Office, and we look forward to continuing to work with her at the Library of Congress. Her efforts on behalf of digitization and improved information technology will serve as an important foundation for the Copyright Office’s transition into the 21st century.

“It is our hope that the next Register will continue her work to modernize the Office and be an advocate for the public interest in copyright,” said Josh Lamel, Executive Director of the Re:Create Coalition.
